The Nest

NESTled in the southwest corner of Red Hook, Brooklyn, The Nest is a clubhouse for all of our humanity. We are souls having a human experience and we honor both those aspects of our being. We are all evolving, all journeying through the ups and downs of life, all trying to find meaning, purpose, and harmony within ourselves.

Yoga teaches us that what we’re seeking is already within us, we just haven’t realized it yet. The Sanskrit mantra So’Ham Hamsah translates to “I Am That, That I Am”, where “that” refers to the creative force of the universe. And what is the nature of that force? It is pure love. It is the light, joy and creativity that is yearning to be expressed through us mere humans - humans with the inability to ever fully grasp the awesomeness of the that energy, but yet instilled with a desire to connect with it.

We are not broken, we do not embody original sin, we are eternally judged for our shortcomings. We are fractured psyches, grappling with pieces of ourselves that we don’t like. We are consciously and/or unconsciously processing our traumas. We are psychologically separated from the Whole, that which we call God, and it is the reconnection to source which will ultimately provide the inner peace we are seeking.

The Club Room
We began by transforming the vintage clothing storage room into the tiny entrance room in July 2018. In April 2019, we moved into the storefront space and built the current entrance room - a chill hangout spot for students and community events.

The NOW Stage
Yoga and meditation teach us that the key to inner peace is living in the now. The NOW stage hosts acoustic concerts, artist showcases, interview series and other events as part of our “Be Here NOW” series. See here for the upcoming schedule of events and reach out if you have an idea for an event!
