Saraswati is the goddess of wisdom, learning, and the creative arts. She is associated with the Sarasvati river in the Rig Veda and represents a flowing presence that can purify and inspire. Her name can be translated as “the one who flows” or “the essence of oneself.” Saraswati is also considered to be the goddess of speech, and as such represents the manifestation of wisdom and creativity through speech and action. As the Mother of the Vedas, we offer praise to Saraswati in effort to increase knowledge of ourselves, enhance our creative abilities and put wisdom into action.
