The practice

I developed the Hamsa Series based on my asana practice in vinyasa, Ashtanga, and yin yoga and my experiences of practicing and studying various yogic teachings over the last 8.5 years. While the asanas (postures) are an important part of the practice, the primary aim of the practice is to calm the mind through a holistic practice of physical postures, conscious breathing, focused awareness, and mantra repetition.

The Hamsa Series is a sequence of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and svadhyaya (chanting / self-study) that students learn by practicing on a daily basis. Humans will advance in the series when they can sufficiently practice each posture by memory and with control. I teach through Zoom on a 1-1 basis daily during the week and there is one Led class per week on Saturdays where I lead the group through the entire series. Humans will choose a time for daily practice between 10am - 1pm EST and everyone will join the led class at 10am on Saturdays once they are capable of doing a sufficient amount of poses in the series. Only people practicing the Hamsa Series during the week will be able to practice the Led class on Saturdays. Humans can expect to practice for about 30 mins for their first few days, then the practice time will increase as students progress. Humans will work towards practicing the full Hamsa Series, which takes roughly 75 minutes.

Humans are expected to practice 4 to 6 days a week, though the cadence of practice can be tailored to each person’s needs. The cost to practice is $150 per month. Humans can do a two-week trial for $50.

Anyone interested in practicing should email me at swan@swansnestyoga.club to discuss the logistics in more detail.
